Job Description:

Provide supervision and support for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The DSP supports client employees within the program assisting with staying focused on the task at hand, problem solving, following the behavior support plan and ensure that the person is achieving his/her goals.

  • Support people in ways that assist him/her to achieve personal goals
  • Encourage participation, teach skills and motivate efforts
  • Provide support for enjoyable outings in the community, in-house activities, pre-employment skill development, social skill development, and work/volunteer experience
  • Document progress and skill development using Therap
  • Additional duties will include assisting people with lunch, personal hygiene and other restroom needs, and general housekeeping to maintain an organized and healthy environment
  • Advocate for client’s rights, assure compliance with Oregon administrative rules and promote and support overall training efforts of the company mission

Eligibility & Requirements:

  • Meet the physical demands of the job
  • Must be at least 18 years old (Oregon Administrative Rule 309-047-0100-04)
  • Must pass a drug screen test, initially and randomly
  • Must pass a Department of Human Services criminal background check
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (per OARS)
  • Some positions require a valid driver’s license, be licensed for at least one year, have a good driving record, and be at least 21 years of age to drive company vehicles
  • Rockwest will provide training for all required certifications (First Aid/CPR, OIS)
